Description:      Dynamic modeling and response of systems

                          with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and/or

                          thermal elements. Classical methods of

feedback control system design and analysis.

Objective:         The objective of this course is to provide

                        students with a foundational understanding

of dynamics and control of physical systems,

                        particularly mechanical, hydraulic and

electrical systems, and prepare them for the

courses on AE3521 Aircraft and Spacecraft

Flight Dynamics and AE 4525 Feedback

                        Control Systems Design Lab.

How:                By means of lectures, quizzes, homework,

and two finals.  I get 50% of your grade,

Prof. Prasad gets the other half. Homeworks

count for 10% of your grade. Quizzes

count for a total of 50% of your grade.

Final counts for 40% of the grade.

                        10%+50%+40% = 100% (of my 50%)

You are allowed ONE sheet (two-sided) of

                        HAND-WRITTEN formulas    (8 ½ x 11) for

                        each exam, including the final.

There probably exist solutions to the assigned

problems that circulate in your environment.

Don’t even think about using them because (a) it’s

unethical and (b) it’s rather stupid:

Only the exams carry a significant

                        percentage of the grades anyway.

Prerequisite material:

AE 2220. You MUST know and be able to refer

to ALL the material covered in the textbook

“An Introduction to Dynamics” by McGill and

King. Feel free to buy back this book.
