The AE IT staff provides basic services to AE faculty, staff and research students. The group presently consists of two full-time staff members and one other staff members with part-time responsibilities. They support computing in AE in the areas of
- Operating system support for Windows XP/Vista and limited support for Linux and MacOS 10.
- Hardware problem diagnosis; Dell warranty reporting/repair; component replacement when parts are standard commodity types.
- Local area network administration (port activation, IP address assignment) and problem diagnosis.
- Operation of the AE email system, the AE servers and the AE web site.
- A-V equipment in conference rooms (OIT handles all classrooms).
- Application software support for MS Office, IE, Firefox and limited GT administrative software.
- Printer management (cartridge replacements) and problem diagnosis only.
- Consulting in selection of appropriate computer hardware.
