Introduction

 

The AE IT staff provides basic services to AE faculty, staff and research students. The group presently consists of two full-time staff members and one other staff members with part-time responsibilities. They support computing in AE in the areas of

  • Operating system support for Windows XP/Vista and limited support for Linux and MacOS 10.
  • Hardware problem diagnosis; Dell warranty reporting/repair; component replacement when parts are standard commodity types.
  • Local area network administration (port activation, IP address assignment) and problem diagnosis.
  • Operation of the AE email system, the AE servers and the AE web site.
  • A-V equipment in conference rooms (OIT handles all classrooms).
  • Application software support for MS Office, IE, Firefox and limited GT administrative software.
  • Printer management (cartridge replacements) and problem diagnosis only.
  • Consulting in selection of appropriate computer hardware.
