On Thursday, May 5, the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory (ASDL) recognized its latest batch of master’s and Ph.D. graduates during a special ceremony held on campus.

Professor Dimitri Mavris, director of the ASDL hooded 37 graduates receiving the Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering (MSAE) and Masters of Science in Computation Science Engineering (MS-CSE) degrees and six PhD graduates. Guests from around the world attended, both in-person and online, to celebrate these students. This class of ASDL graduates come from a wide range of backgrounds and countries including Romania, Italy, Tunisia, France, China, India, and Spain, as well as the United States. 

“Graduation is always a bittersweet event for me,” said Professor Mavris. “After all the time and effort spent teaching and developing students, it is rewarding for me to see them receive their degrees. Each one of them is unique and special so it is emotional for me to say goodbye to them.”

One of the Ph.D. graduates, Ruxandra Duca, made the student reflection remarks at the Georgia Tech Ph.D. commencement ceremony on Friday, May 6 held at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Her comments reflected the spirit of the Institute, the School of Aerospace Engineering, and ASDL.
