The Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory (ASDL) was founded in 1992 to bridge the gap between academia and industry research perspectives, and it has grown to be one of the nation's premier entities for aerospace systems and complex design.  Dr. Dimitri Mavris, director of ASDL, will present on some of the capabilities of the lab and has invited AIAA Atlanta to view the facilities first hand.  Come get a glimpse of future aerospace technology and connect with Georgia Tech faculty, researchers, and AIAA student chapter members.

About the speaker

Dimitri Mavris is the Boeing Professor of Advanced Aerospace Systems Analysis at the Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the director of its Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory (ASDL).  ASDL has grown under his direction to an organization that has performed $150M worth of research in new methods and tools in the past ten years and is home to 250 researchers that includes research faculty, Masters, and Ph.D. Students.  Since 1992, the program has graduated more than 800 fully funded MS and 100 PhD students.  Prof. Mavris has co-authored, with his students, in excess of 500 journal and conference papers over this same period.

About ASDL

For over 20 years, ASDL research has advanced design processes for all types of aerospace vehicles, as well as for gas turbine engines, naval systems, missiles, air transportation systems, and other civil and military air and space applications.  The research is sponsored by a diverse group of organizations, including: Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Airbus, GE, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce Corp, NASA, Office of Naval Research, Air Force Research Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory, and numerous others.

The cost is $15 for Members/Guests, $20 for Non-Members, and $10 for Students.
