Note: E-mail is public. Do not assume that any message will remain private. Once you hit the SEND key, there is not a thing you can do to take it back. So, please be very careful about what you send. As a rule, do not send anything when you are feeling extremely frustrated (experience :-) ).  One of my dear students, a few years ago, stuck a big, red-printed  note above the telephone in the wind tunnel  for the benefit of a colleague of hers: "XXX, Please think about the consequences of the phone call you are about to make". This applies much more to e-mail, since you can't even deny it, your instructor or boss cannot put a  pacifying spin on it, and there is no real  hope that its forgotten. Other general rules of professional communications are: Do not use official channels such as campus e-mail to send religious, ethnic, political,  money-making or  highly personal material. If you do send such stuff because you think you know the recipient, and what you are doing, well, you are on your own.  Note that a simple mistyping of one letter on a prism e-mail address will result in the message going to someone completely different!  For legalistic stuff, see the Institute's Rules for use of computing facilities and networks, off the GT Web Page.
