  1. AFOSR MURI 2002: Design of Mutlifunctional Energetic Structural Materials

  2. Thermomechanics of High Speed Penetrations
  3. Vibration Control
    • Active Control of Buffet Induced Vibrations of Twin Tail Aircraft

    • Objectives: Suppress the vibrations of all vertical tail modes from 5 to 100 Hz using piezoceramic stack based actuators and acceleration feedback control to reduce buffet induced vibrations.

    • Smart Violin & Guitar

    • Objectives: Force an acoustically radiating structure like an inexpensive guitar or an inexpensive violin to exhibit the acoustic radiating qualities of a target structure like a good quality guitar or violin.

  4. Health Monitoring
    • Damage Detection in Composite Structures based on Dynamic Responses and the use of Neural Networks

    • Debond detection in Thermal Protection System Tiles based on Dynamic Response
