This document outlines the basic services that are available to AE faculty
and staff from the AE Computer Support Staff (CSS). The group presently
consists of one full-time staff member and two other staff members with
part-time responsibilities. They support computing in AE in the areas
of
- Operating system support for Windows XP/2k/NT and Linux; limited support
for Windows 95/98 and MacOS..
- Hardware problem diagnosis; Dell and Gateway warranty reporting/repair;
component replacement when parts are standard commodity types.
- Local area network administration (port activation, IP address assignment)
and problem diagnosis.
- Operation of the AE email system, the AE servers and the AE web site.
- Classroom A-V equipment (in connection with OIT).
- Application software support for Eudora, MS Office, Navigator/Communicator,
IE, and limited GT administrative software.
- Printer management (cartridge replacements) and problem diagnosis
only.
- Consulting in selection of appropriate computer hardware.
