Laboratory #2: Pressure Measurements
and Flow Visualization
in
a Subsonic Windtunnels
A formal report
is required for this laboratory. Please carefully follow the
instructions
for formal report formats.
Additional Instructions
After you perform the boundary layer survey, use the traverse to return
the probe to the top of the wind tunnel. Then use the boundary layer
Labview program to acquire 18 more measurements at one location - the
same location close to the freestream that you repeated twice in the
original boundary layer survey. The computer will record the mean and
standard deviation each time you acquire data. In your Error Analysis, be sure to compare
the variation between your 18 repeated mean velocity measurements with
the standard deviation obtained during individual data acquisitions.
In your formal lab report, be sure to include the tubing schematic
under the Instrumentation
and Procedure section. In Results and Discussion,
introduce
your results, including the data plots listed in the lab manual.
Include
appropriate error bars in your plots, and justify the magnitude of the
error bars in your Error Analysis section. The Error
Analysis
section should also
include a discussion of what you consider to be the
major sources of experimental error for all the various types of data
collected,
and estimates of the error introduced by each. Be sure to include
comments
on the reproducibility of the data.
Questions
Your report must also include answers to the following questions in
the appropriate sections:
